How wildfires and heatwaves affect your travel insurance

Wildfires and heatwaves are increasingly affecting summer travel, but many holidaymakers may be less protected than they assume.


Travel insurance will usually cover emergency medical treatment and lost possessions. However, cancellation, evacuation, an early return home or alternative accommodation may not be covered unless the policy includes “catastrophe cover”.
